D. Teaching Practice

  1.1.  Procedures of teaching

First, I entered the classroom, greeted the students and introduced myself. Before entering the class, I interviewed the students with some questions about their interests. The atmosphere was very comfortable and natural, I no longer felt uncomfortable. Feeling as worried as before. I introduce new lessons to students with a warm-up game related to the lesson content. They will have 5 minutes. If students answer correctly, I will give each of them a small gift. Then, during class, I have students work in groups and report their progress. Finally, I let students watch the video and give them questions for them to answer on paper and submit for grading.

1.2. Time management and organizing activities

In the class I teach, I spend 10 minutes for students to play a game to warm up to the new lesson and at the same time review the previous lesson, 15 minutes to explain the new topic, 20 minutes to divide students into groups to discuss content, 15 minutes to watch review videos and end class.

1.3. Classroom management

During my teaching, teachers and students use both languages: Filipino and English. I learned a few more Filipino words. The students were very excited to hear me speak Filipino. But that's not a problem because Filipinos speak English very well, English has become a mandatory second language so for me there is no difficulty.

My biggest problem lies with my voice. My voice is quite small so I have to speak loudly, which makes my throat quite sore after each class. I especially have to attract the students' attention. Therefore, I always pay special attention to my students.

1.4. Problem-solving while teaching and staying in the designated school

Before starting the lesson, I often introduce myself, the country I was born in, and especially for the 7th and 8th graders, it is easy for them to access social networking platforms, so I choose to interview the students with questions about their interests, and at the same time sing hot trending songs to stir up the class, helping them feel comfortable to start the new lesson. I want students not to feel too tired when studying, so I often organize small games and often praise them if they answer correctly.

I often pay attention to students to see if they have any problems. Focusing on students can help us quickly handle unexpected situations.
